Cockpit

The self draining cockpit is a safe well protected area, the size of which has been reduced from the original by raising the roof height of the aft cabins, much improving the access to the double berths below. Extra seat/lockers have been built inboard so there are now 5 large cockpit lockers for batteries, gas (draining), sundry fuels, warps/sheets, and 2 foot-step lockers. There are two Henderson bilge pumps in the lockers.

Wheel steering is by Whitlock with torque tubes, universal joints and gearboxes (main box replaced 1994), a reliable system but one which can be repaired easily anywhere in the world.

The helmsman's seat converts to a cockpit table.

There are 2 Anderson S/S self tailing winches for the headsail sheets and 2 Lewmars for the Genoa and cruising chute.

There is easy access to the 25 hp Volvo twin cylinder diesel via 2 top opening lids.

A larger (210 Lt) diesel tank is built in the pod beneath the cockpit floor for better weight distribution.
