Sails and Deck Gear
The foredeck sports a Lofrens manual windlass with chain gypsy and warping drum, and SL anchorman with chain/rope gypsy. These control the 45 lb CQR and the 33 lb Bruce anchors which are stowed on their own S/S rollers. There are 4 aluminium bitts and also 2 midships cleats.
There are 2 huge foredeck lockers for anchors, warps and 6 large fenders. The large foredeck makes sail handling easy and can stow a hard dinghy for ocean passages.
A stern gantry constructed from mast section anodised aluminium supports the Aerogen 4 wind generator, wind vane self steering, lifebelt, davits, stern light, stainless steel swimming ladder, harbour sun awning and the tackle for raising the drive leg when sailing. The Volvo drive leg can be moved on a vertical axis like an outboard to give extra maneuverability in close quarters, and there is access through the afterdeck for removing the inevitable plastic bag and fishing net. The rudders are filled with polyurethane foam and supported by strong skegs. A small step folds down for entry from the dinghy and there are rubbing strips for fenders. Guard wires are heavy duty with pelican hooks for easy release. There is stern anchor stowage, with strong stainless steel cable roller and bitts. Multiplait anchor cable is stored in a covered box on deck ready for use.
Heavy weather rig. Staysail, and trysail on it's own separate mast track. We have only used it once but it was worth it. We were 3 days hove-to in winds up to force 10-12. Level boat means hot meals - always.
