Moulder's This is a cruising yacht par excellence. All the requirements are met; an able performance under sail, full diesel power, comfortable, extensive accommodation, good deck space, a sheltered cockpit and a strong and thoroughly seaworthy hull. Owner's comments 'Rouser' always turns heads wherever she goes, she mixes traditional lines with modern materials and practical accommodation. She makes an ideal comfortable and safe cruising yacht with the potential for blue water cruising. Six people can be entertained in comfort, four can cruise in style. The center cockpit make her a safe boat for children, and the aft cabin means they can be shut in out of harms way! Despite her powerful engine, which makes motoring and close quarter maneuvering easy, she sails very well, which is not surprising coming from the drawing board of the well known Dutch designer, Van De Stadt. The ketch rig is very versatile, providing a well balanced helm under a variety of sail configurations. She cruises comfortably at 6+ knots. You can easily get into the habit of just setting mizzen and genoa for lazy cruising!
Her hull shape takes waves comfortably, and her long keel ensures good manners under adverse conditions. The center cockpit provides a safe helming position, and the wheel house keeps the elements at bay. Originally named 'Patroclas of Walton', she was renamed 'T. S. Rouser' by the Sea Cadets, her previous owners. She served as a sail training vessel for five years and conforms to Category Zero for stability (unrestricted use) and Category 3 for Sail Training. The certification has now expired. Her current owners have sailed her on the East Coast Rivers with hopes of more extended cruising in future years. Work pressures and wider commitments mean a change of plan.
