Uomie is a famous Class One Ocean Racer built by R.A. Newman & Sons of Poole in 1952 to a design by Arthur Robb MBE for Selwyn Slater. Construction is carvel Honduras Mahogany on Oak frames with bronze floors. She has a lead keel attached with bronze keelbolts, new in 2001, inspected perfect in 2005. The superstructure is Mahogany. She was the first boat specifically designed to race through gales, as up until then racing yachts had hove to in gales, and became one of the most famous racing yachts of the 50’s She offers up to six berths in two linked cabins. Mechanical propulsion is by Volvo 2003 3-cylinder Diesel engine. She has been cruised and raced regularly and has been lovingly maintained. Approximate Dimensions
